Dave Halls and Hitoshi Kawai ran the Halls Kawai Band, which joined forces with Grace Chung in 2006 to do a series of shows in Kings Cross (Sydney) at Bar Me. Bar Me houses what use to be the famous El Rocco Jazz Cellar, a creative melting pot for Sydney jazz in the 1960s.

The show was a huge success, with Saturday night selling out and being one of the most packed nights ever at Bar Me. It was a particularly significant gig because it was Hitoshi Kawai's last major gig in Sydney before returning to Japan. All of us in the band really miss Hitoshi and his wife Kauri. Hitoshi - please come back to Sydney!
