Dave Halls has been playing jazz in Sydney for over ten years at venues such as the Basement, Soup Plus, Bar Me (formerly El Rocco jazz club), and all the major hotels and function centres around Sydney.

He started out playing in the Blue Mountains NSW at venues like the Grand View Hotel in Wentworth Falls. He took lessons with Gary Daley before moving to Sydney and being mentored by Sydney jazz icon Serge Ermoll.

He has played in many bands over the years, including The Feathered Frog, Mistura Fina, Mercury Blue, Hibiscus, Tracey Levett Band, Liz Geyson Band, and his own Dave Halls Band.

Under Serge Ermoll's direction, Dave did his first major concert at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in 1995, playing in a band featuring Warrick Alder, Steve Elphick, Simon Barker and Mark Simmons.

He later shared the piano stool in a number of Serge's bands, which featured musicians such as Dave Smith, Jimmy Mitchell, Christina Williams, Lenny Young and others.
